Joining your video meeting

When the Join button appears, camera and microphone permissions, phones and tablets, and what to do if it does not work.

When you can join

My Bookings shows Join Meeting from 15 minutes before your time until an hour after it ends. Earlier than that the page says how long until it opens. Nothing to install — it runs in the browser, on a computer, phone or tablet.

Camera and microphone

The first time, your browser asks permission to use the camera and microphone. Allow it. If you said no by mistake, look for a small camera icon in the browser's address bar, or open the site's permissions in your browser settings, allow both, and reload.

While you wait

You may join before the teacher does — the previous meeting may be running a minute over. Stay in the room; the teacher joins when they are free. If the school uses a time clock, a countdown shows how long your meeting has and the call ends automatically when it reaches zero.

If it does not work

  • Black screen or no sound — check the permissions above, and that no other app (Zoom, Teams) is holding the camera.
  • "Meeting has ended" — the teacher marked the meeting finished, or your time has passed by more than an hour. Contact the office if you missed it.
  • Cannot sign in on the night — the teacher can send you a direct meeting link by email that works without signing in; phone the office and ask.
  • Weak connection — turn off your own video; audio needs far less bandwidth.
