The waitlist

What happens when a teacher is full, and what the office can do about it.

When every time with a teacher is taken, parents see Join the waitlist for that child instead of the time grid.

How it works, automatically

  1. A parent joins the list for one teacher and one child. They see their position in line.
  2. When a time with that teacher frees up — someone cancels or moves — the first family in line gets that exact time held for two hours and an email with a Book this time button. Their bookings page shows the hold and a countdown.
  3. If they book, it is theirs. If two hours pass, the hold moves to the next family. When nobody is waiting, the time opens to everyone.

Held times are closed to everyone else while the hold lasts, so nobody can snipe them.

What the office sees

On the conference page, a Waitlist card lists everyone waiting, per teacher, in order, with the parent's phone and email and any active hold. You can remove an entry (the family is not emailed).

To seat someone sooner, book them yourself from the Schedule grid or the conference page — they leave the list automatically. Cancelling a conference clears its waitlist.
